Warm reception in The Office

The OfficeYou wouldn’t think there’d be room for another character on The Office. But Ellie Kemper has obliterated that theory.

With The Office set to return for its sixth season on Thursday, Sept. 17 (NBC/Global), the charming Kemper officially has joined the cast full-time as Erin the wide-eyed receptionist.

Erin was around at the end of last season and she definitely added something to the mix.

“When I auditioned, they said, ‘Oh, this is a character who might be on four episodes,’” Kemper recalled. “And then it was six episodes. And then it was like, next season! It will be a regular position!”

Erin became Dunder Mifflin’s receptionist when Pam (Jenna Fischer) left to join the fledgling Michael Scott Paper Company. Pam is back now, but as a salesperson.
