NEWS: Series developer Greg Daniels is expected to return as showrunner this season. John Krasinski and Ed Helms are expected to appear in fewer episodes as Jim Halpert and Andy Bernard in order to film several upcoming movies and Rainn Wilson will appear in at least 13 episodes as Dwight Schrute before leaving for the planned Dwight-centric spin-off. Actress Catherine Tate, who joined the series as a series regular midway through season eight portraying Nellie Bertram, will continue with the series.Jake Lacy has joined the cast as Pete, a new Dunder Mifflin staffer and possible love interest for Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper). Clark Duke will also join the cast as a series regular. Former series regular David Denman will return as Roy Anderson in the second episode of the season; he was last seen as part of the Threat Level Midnight film in season seven.
Novak will remain a member of the extended Office family, however. Even though he no longer has a deal in place with series producer Universal TV, Novak is expected to make recurring appearances on The Office and could even still do some writing for the show. Novak has also directed several episodes of The Office and could return in that capacity as well.

David Denmar to guest star:
David Denman will guest-star in the upcoming ninth season of the NBC comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively. According to sources, the hot-tempered former Dunder Mifflin employee will show up in Episode 2.

Better With You actor Jake Lacy is joining NBC’s The Office as a series regular next season.
Vulture has learned that Kaling and the producers of The Office have worked out a deal for the actress to return to the NBC comedy for at least two episodes of the show’s ninth season.
Former Greek pledge Clark Duke soon will be a series regular on The Office.
