“Michael’s Last Dundies” Episode Review

Chris Morgan:

Tonight’s episode of The Office combined the show’s past with the show’s future. Before sending Michael Scott out the door next week, the show brought back the Dundie Awards for one last hurrah. At least, one last hurrah with Michael as a host. The first episode about the Dundies, the season two premiere, was, in my opinion, the first great episode of the show. However, that episode was still about establishing these characters. Now, “Michael’s Last Dundies” was about celebrating them, and the only one being established is Deangelo, who is certainly more fleshed out after this episode, though also still not really in tune with all the other characters. Of course, to a degree that makes sense.

The cold open begins with Michael taking Deangelo around to deliver Dundie nomination certificates to his employees. Framed ones, too! Michael clearly spared no expense. While Deangelo is iffy on the whole idea of the Dundies, as part of Michael’s legacy, and perhaps his favorite part, Michael is really concerned about keeping it going. They deliver nominations to Jim and Pam, though Jim clearly has just woken up and Pam doesn’t come to the door. Stanley gets angry at them. Then, they get to Meredith’s house. It’s so run down at first I assumed it was Creed’s house, but it also works as Meredith’s place. They find the door unlocked, and then find Meredith stumbling home from a night out. She offers to make them breakfast, she does have sausages and napkins after all, but they run away.

The Office episode review: “Training Day”

Review by Chris Morgan:

The Office came back for one week to give us Michael and Holly’s engagement, and the news that Michael is leaving for Colorado. Then, it took a couple more weeks off, but it has returned once again with “Training Day” and with the return of The Office comes the addition of Will Ferrell to the show as Deangelo Vickers, the new boss in town.

Obviously, having a movie star the calibre of Ferrell on the show is a big get, and clearly the show is pulling out all the stops for Steve Carell’s farewell episodes. The show is already NBC’s biggest ratings getter on Thursday night, and having folks like Ferrell stop by certainly won’t hurt. The question will be whether or not the show maintains its popularity once Carell, and Michael Scott, are gone. However, that is a question for another day.

Things begin in a hotel bar, where Michael is waiting to meet Deangelo. Conversely, Deangelo is there to meet Michael. The two get the talking and enjoy their conversation without realizing who one another is for just long enough for it to be both humorous and plausible. Michael later says he finds the hijinx he gets into amusing, and so do I. The fact that Carell and Ferell have a nice rapport doesn’t hurt, and their conversation is humorous as well. Then, it is off to the office where Michael shows Deangelo around in a scene that felt vaguely reminiscent of Step Brothers, but only thoroughly less crass.

“Garage Sale” Review

The Office Examiner
by Chris Morgan

After a long hiatus, The Office finally graced our televisions with a new episode once more. Tonight’s episode was entitled “Garage Sale,” and while there was indeed a titular garage sale, though it took place in the warehouse, this episode had a lot grander plans than regaling us with a tale of the gang trying to sell things they didn’t need/want any longer.

Not that there wasn’t plenty to enjoy related to the garage sale. Things started off with a funny, brief cold opening where everybody argued with Dwight to try and get him to close the door since it was chilly outside. Cold opening, indeed. Hi-O! Dwight was the star of the garage sale, and his journey sort of brought most of the good moments for the other characters along it.

Dwight has a Dwight-esque plan, which is to start from a humble thumbtack and trade up to something glorious. He talks Kelly into trading him a bunch of her books for a half melted candle. He gets a whole box of Ryan’s pesto for Stanley’s old photo album by invoking the name of James Franco. As an aside, Ryan’s pesto and salsa stuff was quite funny. The very fact he had the plan I liked, and then the fact he put Phyllis’ photo on the pesto (because she had a more “motherly” look than his own mother evidently) and Oscar’s on the salsa was a nice touch.

“Todd Packer” Episode Review

examiner.com:

Last night’s episode of The Office as titled “Todd Packer”, and…yep, that’s exactly what we got: 22 minutes of uncomfortable moments from David Koechner, whose Todd Packer character hasn’t been seen in some time. It’s obvious that the writers are looking to wrap up some of the loose ends surrounding Michael Scott before the end of the season (which, as you know, is when Steve Carell leaves), and for the most part that means bringing minor characters’ archs to a close. This week, it was Todd Packer. A few weeks back, it was all of Michael’s exes. Who knows who it’ll be next week?

Actually, isn’t Will Ferrell going to be on The Office next week? When we talked with Office star Oscar Nunez a few weeks ago, he mentioned the four-episode arch that Will Ferrell’s pulling on the show, and that should be starting soon, right? Eh, anyway, doesn’t matter: We’re supposed to be discussing last night’s episode, so let’s get back to work.

‘Business Ethics’ Review

‘Business Ethics’ Review by Megan

Hello Dunderheads! It’s Megan V. here and here’s how I’m calling “Business Ethics”…

The episode starts with Jim and Pam conversing via telephone. Pam expresses her disgust with the rest of the Scranton branch in that no one called her to congratulate her on the engagement. Jim proceeds to tell her that he hasn’t mentioned it to anyone yet. Pam convinces Jim to change his mind and then he makes the big announcement to everyone. Their reaction? NOTHING! It was pretty hilarious, especially when Dwight made his remark on the situation saying to Jim, “She’s not a virgin you know.” Well done, Dwight. Well done. This was followed by Michael tackling Jim to the ground in his delight of the news. A great intro scene into this episode.

As the title of the episode states, this is Business Ethics day at Dunder Mifflin. Holly needs to give a presentation. But as we all saw not just ANY presentation. LET’S GET PHYSICAL(ETHICAL) WITH SWEATBANDS!!! Are you kidding!?! I was rolling on the ground! This was clearly another one of Michael’s classic moments! I guess I just don’t understand why Michael won’t give up Jan and the baby (who isn’t even his) to be with Holly; who is CLEARLY his other half (which is becoming more and more evident with each episode). I’m just waiting for that romantic relationship to begin and I hope it happens soon!

‘Weight Loss’ Review

Reviewed by: Kelly

The Office premiere episode yesterday had laughter, a little bit of angst, and a lot of romance that people would be talking about through the entire season. Seeing a proposal in the rain is such a romantic place for a man to propose. Seeing Jim doing made me want to scream in excitement. Pam appears to be gaining a lot of knowledge being in that school. Seeing however Andy keeping up with the wedding with Angela being not really interested into is sad but it makes you smile seeing Angela and Dwight together. Having Phyllis finally getting her way in the party planning committee and gaining a backbone is a yay moment. Michael and Holly working up to a relationship, is a cheer moment. Ryan coming back and trying to get Kelly back, is so sweet. But I felt for Kelly trying to get back at Ryan.
Overall this episode takes the cake, and I mean the low calorie kind.

Season 4 Wrap Up – Review by Priscilla

Season 4 Wrap Up
The season started out with Michael hitting Meredith with his car in the parking lot. Meredith has to be hospitalized and there she finds out that she has rabies when she was bitten by a bat in the office!!!! Michael believes that the office must be cursed due to all of the bad things that have happened.
The first episode also reveals that Pam and Jim have FINALLY began dating. They tried to keep it a secret, but after a “PDA Reminder” from Toby, they eventually let everyone know that they are officially a couple. Though Pam and Jim have finally hooked up, things aren’t looking so great for Dwight and Angela. After Angela leaves Dwight in charge of taking care of a sick Sprinkles, Dwight (thinking he was doing the right thing), kills Sprinkles by leaving her in the freezer. This upsets Angela so much that she ends up breaking up with Dwight.
Ryan has been promoted in the company, and now has Jan’s position. His first big project is Dunder Mifflin Infinity – a website that will allow customers to buy paper online. When the website is finally launched – Dwight wants to impress Angela, so he “competes” with the website to sell paper….and he wins!!!! This does nothing to Angela, and soon after the launch of the website – Andy asks Angela out, to which she accepts. To read the rest go here.

Season 4 Wrap Up- Review by Carla

Office Review – Season 4 wrap up

Even though the strike left us wanting more The Office wrapped up its fourth season beautifully. The writers managed to overcome the problems and come up with smart, funny and original solutions to keep the show going in full steam after the crises. Here is a wrap up of what went on with our favorite characters during this past season:

 Michael

At the beginning of the season Michael was leaving with Jan, building what was a not so well balanced relationship. He hit Meredith with his car what thankfully allowed her to find out she had rabies. Convinced that the office was cursed Michael decided to organize the Michael Scott Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrities Rabies Awareness Fun Run Pro-Am Race for the Cure that started with him handing a giant check to a stripper nurse and ended with him puking over the crossing line.

”People always talk about try ups of the human spirit, well today I had a try up of the human body. That’s why everybody was applauding at the end. My guts, my heart. And well I have actually puked my guts out. I have never puked my heart out. I’m very, very proud of that.”

He also had a hard time accepting Dunder Mifflin Infinity (Ryan’s fancy new website for the company) trying in his own special way prove to Ryan that new technology wasn’t as good as the work of a sales person. And he held an under age pizza delivery boy hostage (for not giving him a discount) during the official launch party of the website. To read the rest go here.

“Did I Stutter?” Review

“Did I Stutter?”
Reviewed by: Kat

The episode opens with Michael running into the office asking for ideas for what to write or draw in the wet cement in the parking lot outside, calling it “a once in a lifetime opportunity.”  After Phyllis, Kelly, and Andy say their ideas, Jim suggests that Michael put his face in it–cut to the parking lot where Dwight is slathering Michael’s face in Vasoline.  Before Michael puts his face in the cement, there’s a comment to “force it in as far as you can,” which, of course, leads to “that’s what she said.”

In the next scene, Angela and Andy are in the kitchen doing MadLibs together, as Dwight listens in the background.  In a talking head, Dwight sarcastically says he hopes nothing bad ever happens to them.  Pam forgot her contact solution after sleeping over “at a friend’s house” (okay, Pam…if you say so), and she has to wear her backup glasses.
