The Office has seen its highs and lows (and lower lows) this season. Jim and Pam’s wedding was one of my favorite TV moments of the year, but since then the episodes have disappointed (many of you even questioned if the show has jumped the shark entirely). Still, I’m holding out hope that I get my Christmas wish, and we see a resurrection of the old Jim in the coming year — along with a return to form for the series. ‘The Office’ Ends

SCRANTON, PA—After nearly six years on the air, NBC’s hit show The Office ended abruptly Thursday when documentary filmmaker Ian Sheffield announced that he and his crew had all the footage of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch required for their project.

Suicide prevention groups protest `The Office’

Some suicide prevention groups aren’t laughing over a scene in “The Office” where Steve Carell’s character tries to scare young children by struggling in a hangman’s noose.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other mental health organizations say NBC and other entertainers should stop using suicide as a punchline. They worry that depiction of a method of suicide might encourage mentally ill people to take their own lives.

“We try not to be zealots about this,” said Robert Gebbia, the foundation’s executive director. “But this one … kind of crossed the line.”

A spokeswoman for NBC’s entertainment division did not have an immediate comment.
